Key Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20

Big Idea: Jesus has all authority, He has given us His Spirit, and He sends every believer to make disciples wherever God has placed them. We don't go in our own strength, but rather in His authority and with His presence.

Summary

The Great Commission is not just a command for missionaries or pastors; it is the calling of every follower of Jesus. Before Jesus told His disciples to "go," He reminded them that all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Him. Our confidence is not found in our abilities, knowledge, or personality, but in the authority of Christ working through us.

Jesus also promised the Holy Spirit, who empowers believers to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). The mission begins in our own "Jerusalem", our homes, workplaces, schools, and neighbourhoods, and it extends to the ends of the earth. God is responsible for changing hearts; our responsibility is simply to make ourselves available.

Throughout Scripture and church history, God has consistently used ordinary people who were willing to obey. Moses felt unqualified. The disciples were ordinary people. Missionaries like David Wilkerson and countless others stepped out in faith despite fear, and God accomplished extraordinary things through their simple obedience.

Evangelism isn't limited to preaching from a stage. It happens through conversations, acts of kindness, praying for someone, sharing your testimony, serving those in need, and living faithfully during difficult seasons. Every believer already has a mission field wherever God has placed them.

Here is a challenge for us: let’s intentionally pray for one person for 1 week, look for one opportunity to serve or encourage them, and trust God with the results. Jesus' final promise still stands today: "Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
